Baston Church of England Primary School

Baston CE Primary is a very special place. We are a hard-working, happy school and our children are at the heart of all we do. All members of staff at Baston are dedicated and caring.  We help our children to diminish their weaknesses, while emphasising all of the things they do so well. We work together to achieve the very best from our children and we guide them carefully in the pursuit of their dreams. Our children are well-behaved and respectful. They have an excellent attitude to work; they realise the high expectations set for them and have high expectations of themselves and others.

It is very important to us that all of our children feel happy and secure at school. Our environment is safe, bright and linked to learning.  Our curriculum is challenging and engaging.

Forest School is an integral part of the curriculum at Baston and every child has access to outdoor learning in order to build a wide range of life-long learning skills that can be applied across the full primary curriculum in practical and meaningful ways.

We take pride in our ‘family approach’ and we value the contributions of everyone in our school and wider community. We have a strong governing body and a thriving relationship with our church; St John the Baptist.

Baston CE Primary is fully inclusive and we have high expectations for all learners. We tailor learning experiences to best suit individuals and we understand that the needs of every pupil are different.

With regard to Special Education Needs, whether these are linked to more and most able children or those who require extra support to access the curriculum, we work closely with families to make sure that there is liaison regarding pupil progress and support for other areas of need including those emotional, sensory, physical etc. Children are provided with clear action plans and targets, which are actioned and reviewed regularly to ensure best provision is in place.

It is our aim to ensure that all SEND pupils perform at a level in line or above the national average for SEND children in all subjects.

We have a strong team of teachers and teaching assistants here at Baston who offer and deliver a number of intervention programs to support all learners. We also have close links with agencies who can provide external support if required.

The SENDCo role is held by the Deputy Headteacher.
