Learning Disability Services - Specialist Speech & Language Therapy

The Lincolnshire Partnership Foundation Trust Learning Disability service provides a range of specialist health services for adults (aged 18 plus) with learning disabilities.

Learning Disability Speech and language therapy is  a specialist service for people aged 18 years+ who have a learning disability and may have additional health needs, whose learning disability prevents them from accessing mainstream speech and language therapy services. It aims to:

  • enable Service Users, carers and other professionals to provide the optimum environment for communication and eating and drinking.
  • provide interventions to address difficulties with communication and eating and drinking in all environments.
  • enable those Service Users with communication and/or eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties to fulfil their individual potential by:
  1. the early detection of problems by offering early assessment and/or therapy/management of the condition,
  2. the recognition, minimisation and where possible elimination of such difficulties,
  3. increasing the knowledge and awareness of communication and/or eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties amongst professionals and  carers
