Notes

BID's Chance to Meet service funded by grants and donations, provides children and young people with a sensory loss and their families and opportunity to meet, socialise and share experiences Activities include pizza making, sports events, music sessions and sensory activities at local parks and nature reserves.

We have been awarded Children in Need funding until 2021 for children and young people with hearing and visual impairments and those who are deafblind.

This is what we plan to do

Develop a combined sensory impaired bowling league. Monthly meets in the north and south of the county and a quarterly meet for all at alternating locations.

11+ bi-monthly meets: Sessions across the county focusing on social activities, independence building, financial capability, resilience, learning/educational opportunities (e.g. colleges/universities to look at options)

Separate monthly VI/HI events for children and families: Social, physical, educational activities to local attractions (e.g. nature/adventure centres). Activities will be fully accessible and interactive for all family members to participate as a unit, and tailored to age groups.

Quarterly siblings’ events: Fun, interactive activities promoting sharing, emotional awareness and understanding.

Quarterly Visually impaired Cinema Club across the county.
