Portage is a positive service and we offer 1:1 home visiting support for the families. We can support in transitions into Nursery setting's and school's, if required. We support in generalising skills and empowering parents taking small steps to look forward.
All Portage Workers have to complete the Portage Basic Training Workshop and ideally have some knowledge of working with children who have Special Needs.
Portage workers have undertaken Makaton and Safeguarding training. The Portage Co-ordinator is also trained in using PECS and ELKLAN - communicating support for children with complex needs.
