2. Financial Abuse

Financial abuse is a form of domestic abuse. This is when someone is controlling your money or creating debts in your name. Financial abuse can leave you you feeling isolated, trappe and havig a lack of confidence. 

Financial abuse can include:

  • running up debts in your name;
  • controlling your bank account/s;
  • making you give them your wages and benefits;
  • stopping you from getting or keeping a job;
  • stealing, demanding or taking money from you; 
  • not allowing you to spend money on yourself or your children;
  • making you prove every penny you have spent- for example having to show receipts
