Caring2Learn began in 2018 as a research project funded by the Department for Education through the Partners in Practice programme. It is now a major initiative developed in Lincolnshire with the overall aim of supporting the improvement of a wide range of outcomes for looked after, previously looked after and other vulnerable children and young people.
We want all education settings to be confident in nurturing vulnerable children and young people so they achieve and make good progress and we want carers, foster carers and residential care workers, to champion education and learning in the home. We want all our looked after children and young people to feel safe and to belong in their home and school, in order to provide them with a solid foundation to have the confidence to go on to learn, be aspirational and achieve their full potential.
To do this we are working together with schools, foster carers, residential carers and Children’s Services teams such as the Virtual School, Inclusion, Fostering & Adoption, Looked After Children, Family Assessment & Support Teams amongst others.
The project has 3 main areas of work:
- The Caring2Learn Award for Caring Schools and Learning Homes to identify, celebrate and support excellent practice in education and care across the county
- A comprehensive Learning & Development programme based on evidence informed approaches which we have defined as our Cornerstones of Good Practice
- The Hub Support Network provides on-going peer support, advice and the sharing of good practice to education professionals and carers based in localities. This includes the team of Education Champions from Foster Care and Education who offer individual and group support, advice and guidance on all things Caring2Learn
By joining us you will play in integral role in meeting these objectives and you will also gain access to a supportive network of education settings, carers and social care professionals all working together to achieve the same goal of improving outcomes and life chances for all our children and young people.
